Here’s what’s actually in each one, and where I land after reading both labels the way I’d read a lab requisition — line by line, dose by dose.

What’s actually in the bowl versus the bottle

Boops Pets Longevity & Healthy Aging is an air-dried soft chew — 90 count per bag, dosed at two chews a day. Each serving carries 120 mg of Nicotinamide Riboside (NR), a NAD+ precursor, plus 100 mg quercetin, 40 mg resveratrol, 100 mg vitamin C, and 50 mg vitamin B3 (niacinamide). It’s manufactured in a GMP-compliant, FDA-registered US facility, with human-grade ingredients and no corn, soy, or artificial fillers, and Boops holds an NASC Quality Seal as a Primary Supplier Member — meaning its manufacturing and quality-control practices have been independently audited under the National Animal Supplement Council’s program. That’s a factual quality signal, not a health-outcome guarantee.

PawPrint Lab takes a different route entirely. Pawprint Protocol is a liquid, nanoliposomal dropper formula built around NMN (nicotinamide mononucleotide, not NR), NAD+ itself, resveratrol, and CoQ10, dosed by the dog’s weight class rather than a flat per-serving amount. A 2 fl oz bottle runs $69 as a one-time purchase or $51.75 a month on subscription. The company describes the formula as vet-formulated and manufactured in the USA under GMP.

Reading the two labels the way I’d read a chemistry panel

Format matters more than most owners think it does. A chew is a fixed dose you can count; a dropper is a per-drop estimate that depends on how steady your hand is and how much of it your dog actually swallows versus shakes off its chin. For a senior dog with dental issues, a soft chew is often the easier delivery — no holding a mouth open, no spilled liquid on the counter. For a dog who’s a picky eater or has a sensitive stomach, a liquid added to food may go down easier.

On ingredient philosophy, NR and NMN are both NAD+ precursors, but they aren’t interchangeable in the literature, and neither company is publishing dog-specific trial data comparing them. NAD+ levels are known to decline with age, and NR is one pathway the body uses to make the NAD+ involved in everyday cellular energy metabolism — that’s the mechanism Boops leans on. PawPrint Lab leans on delivering NAD+ and its precursor NMN directly, betting the nanoliposomal format gets more of it absorbed. Neither claim has been settled by a head-to-head canine study, and I’d tell any owner that plainly before I’d tell them to spend $69 a bottle.

Quercetin and resveratrol show up in both formulas, but the evidence behind them is thinner than the marketing suggests, and it’s worth being honest about that instead of hand-waving past it. A study in Pharmaceuticals testing quercetin formulations found that quercetin, ascorbic acid, and related compounds “did not affect the feeding behavior” of the model organism tested, at the concentrations used — a modest, in-vitro finding, not proof of an anti-aging effect in dogs. A separate study in Phytomedicine found that embryonic exposure to resveratrol at 50 μg/ml “accelerated pupation and adult emergence but shortened adult lifespan” in its model system — a reminder that “antioxidant” doesn’t automatically mean “more is better,” and that dose and life stage matter. In Boops’s formula, quercetin and resveratrol are positioned as antioxidants that support cellular health and vitality, not as proven lifespan extenders, and that’s the honest way to say it.

Where PawPrint Lab has a real case

I don’t think it’s honest to pretend PawPrint Lab has nothing going for it. The nanoliposomal delivery format is a legitimate area of interest in human supplement science, and a liquid dropper genuinely solves a real problem for dogs who won’t eat treats, or who need doses scaled precisely to a 9-lb Chihuahua versus a 90-lb Mastiff — Boops’s chew dose is fixed per serving, not adjusted by weight class. If your dog is one of the ones who spits out every soft chew you’ve ever tried, that flexibility is worth something, and I’d say so to a client’s face. What I haven’t seen from PawPrint Lab is a public NASC seal or third-party purity testing disclosed the way Boops discloses its Eurofins testing — and for a supplement going into a senior dog’s body long-term, that paperwork isn’t a nice-to-have, it’s the baseline I check before anything else.

I had a Border Collie mix on my table two winters ago, 12 years old, 38 lbs, whose owner had switched him from a joint chew to “the trendy new drops” because a neighbor swore by them. Three weeks in, she still couldn’t tell me the actual NAD+ or NMN dose he was getting — the bottle listed a proprietary blend and a dropper amount that scaled with his weight class, but not a milligram figure she could compare to anything. That’s the pattern I run into more than owners expect: a lot of enthusiasm about a product, very little ability to state what’s actually in the dose. In an independent survey of Boops customers (March 2025, n=193), 97.8% reported a visible improvement after the first jar, with 94% reporting a change in cognitive function and 98% reporting a change in energy — that’s owner-reported experience, not a clinical trial, and I’d frame it to a client exactly that way. PawPrint Lab’s nanoliposomal format is a real point in its favor for dogs who won’t take a chew, and its weight-based dosing is more precise on paper. If your dog takes chews without complaint and you want a formula with a stated per-serving dose you can track against bloodwork over time, Boops Pets Longevity & Healthy Aging is where I’d start. If your dog won’t eat a soft chew under any circumstances, PawPrint Lab’s drops are a reasonable fallback worth asking your own vet about — just go in asking for the paperwork, not the pitch.
